About Library

Ness Wadia College Library has a rich and balanced collection to fulfil institute goal that is to impart Commerce and Business Education to the young generation of India. Our goal throughout has been to strive for excellence and each day we take a step forward in time and near our goal. Library has continue its thrust for library automation by automating its technical process such as barcode, spine Labels, book cards. Library has obtained SOUL 2.0 LIBRARY SOFTWARE Developed by UGC INFLIBNET CENTRE, Ahmadabad.

Aims and Objectives

To strengthen the efforts of the librarian in planning library activities and policies. To take the feedback from the departments and plan for improvement and enrichment of the library. To act as a liaison between the library and the readers.

Powers and Functions:

The library committee ensures that proper care is taken with regard to the following. Allocation of funds for books and journals in various subjects. Framing and suggesting amendments to library code of conduct. Assessment of the library services provided by the library, if necessary. Suggesting improvements in library services.

    Exhibition on Special Occasions

    On the birth anniversary of our national leaders like Mahatma Gandhi (2nd October), Dr. B.R. Ambedkar (14th April), Swami Vivekananda (12th January) Savitribai Phule (3rd January) etc. a exhibition of books on these personalities is displayed. On different occasions such as authors were felicitated or any award is declared for books or any author passed away, on this occasion books related to them were displayed.

    Exhibition of new arrivals

    Although the new arrivals before display in racks, prior to this an exhibition of new arrivals is arranged for three days, where students and staff are allowed to freely browse these newly added books.

    Exhibition of Rare Books

    Exhibition of Art and Painting: on 6th February 2018 Library had organized Art and Painting Exhibition for the student provide an opportunity to exhibit their art to the large number of audience

    Library is organizing an Art and painting Exhibition for student and providing them to exhibit their skill of Artwork such as Sketch, Painting (Water Colour, Poster Colour and Oil painting) and Craft from Waste Material and give them Certificate and Prizes.

    Celebration of Vachan Prena Din

    Every Year 15th October (Birth Day of Late President of India Bharatratna Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam) is celebrated as Vachan Prena Din By Displaying Books written by Dr. Abdul Kalam Spontaneous Quiz is organized.

    Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Essay Completion

    Every Year 15th October (Birth Day of Late President of India Bharatratna Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam ) is celebrated as Vachan Prena Din on this occasion an Essay Competition is organized to pay the homage to Dr A. P. J.. Abdul Kalam

    LIBRARY AUTOMATION

    The Library has computerized its activities by using SOUL 3.0 Software which is developed by UGC INFLIBNET Center, Ahmadabad. 40238 books data entry has been completed. The library has scanned the content page of 225 books. The reader can view the content page at the time of searching the library OPAC. The title has * mark has an attachment facility which enable user to see the content page of the book. The House keeping function such Book Card and Spin Label, Barcode for Books and Members were computerized. The issuing of reading material is speedily performed by Barcode Scanners

    COMPETETIVE EXAMINATION

    The College has received generous grant from UGC. Library has started a new section of the books which is helpful for the students to prepare for competitive examinations such as UPSC, MPSC, Staff Selection, Railway Recruitment, Bank Recruitment, etc. 1202 Books are available in this section. Every year latest books are added to this section.

    NET, SET EXAMINATION

    To help the aspirant future teacher library has started a new section for NET, SET Examination through UGC grant. 300 books are available in this section. Every year latest books added to this section

    RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

    The College is recognized as PhD Research centre by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The Library has started a new section of Research Methodology books in Research Library to help the research scholars.

    BIOGRAPHY OF ENTREPRENEURS

    Though the library has a large biography section. A separate biography section of entrepreneurs is established in reference section for ready reference to the students.

    Literature Quiz:

    To motivate students to read inspiring books and make them aware World Classic Literature in Sanskrit, English Hindi and Marathi literature Library organized a Literature Quiz on 9th August Every Year at 11.00a.m. and give Cash Prizes 1. First Prize of Rs.500/ 2. Second Prize of Rs.400/ 3. Third Prize of Rs.300/ 4. 03 Consolation Prizes : Rs.200/- to each

    Read A Book and Win A Pen

    To inculcate reading habits among students library had started a unique scheme for the student called Read A Book and Win A Pen. Library has prepared a list of 150 – 200 books of Classics in Marathi, Hindi, English Literature, Biography, Autobiography of National Leaders and Social Reformers, Industrialist and few Translation of International best sellers book for the scheme. Library gives books to the students to read the books among list and ask him to write an abstract of 120 words of the book read and submit the same to the library. Library will give them a pen. Students can win as many as pen.

    Best Reader Award

    The students who read maximum books in the year were felicitated with Best Reader Prize in Annual Prize Distribution Function with a gift and certificate of merit.

    Book Lovers Group

    This is a unique activity started by library since 1971 to motivate the students to read good books and inculcate debating skill for their better prospects Library is arranging discussion on the books in three different languages i.e. Marathi, Hindi and English. Till the date 103 discussion completed on 105 books. The participant students get Certificate and Prizes at Annual Prize Distribution Programme. The college Library consists of the Home Reading Section, Book Bank, Study or Reading Hall, Internet Browsing Centre, Open Access Periodical and Reference Section, Teachers Reading Room, and Research Library. The Library issues Identity Cards to Bonafide students of the College. Each year admission to the Reading Hall is available strictly on the production of Identity Card provided by Library. Students get two books at a time for a week and on demand there is no limit to the number of books issued. Students can exchange books as many times as they want. Books are issued during vacation. Library issues books under Book Bank Scheme to the B.C and EBC Students. Our goal throughout has been to strive for excellence and each day we take a step forward in time and near our goal.     Library Rules & Regulations

    1. Users should bring the Smart card compulsorily.
    2. Leave your bags, handbags and personal belongings at the depository/property counter.
    3. Using cell/mobile phones are prohibited.
    4. Strict silence should be maintained.
    5. College dress code applies to library also.
    6. Eatables are not allowed inside the Library.
    7. Do not install or uninstall any software in library computers.
    8. Students are prohibited to carry any notebook inside the reference section except loose sheets.
    9. No person shall write on, damage or make any mark on any book, journal or other material belongs to the library.
    10. Library documents should be handled with great care.
    11. The staff/students are must to return the books as and when they are called back by the Chief Librarian.
    12. Before borrowing the book, the member must make sure that the book lent is in good condition and the page numbers are intact.
    13. Fine will be calculated after the due date.
    14. Books are re-issued only if there are no claims or reservations.
    15. If there is loss of borrower’s card, it should be reported to Chief Librarian.
    16. Photocopying of only one chapter of a book for educational or research purpose is permitted under copyright law. Users should respect copyright law and the library is not responsible for any legal consequences arising due to copyright violation.
    17. Personal laptops are allowed inside the library on the condition that they will not disturb the connections of the library’s desktop computers for recharging/ Internet connections. Plug points and LAN cables are provided in the Private study zones and the users should make use of the same.

    The last 25 years of his career have been spent as a Chief Librarian at Ness Wadia College. A frequent participant in national and international conferences, he has presented a wide range of research papers and articles. Sixteen research articles, as well as four book chapters by him, have been published in various well-renowned books and journals. He is continuously arranging student-centered activities such as Literature Quiz, discussion on various books in Book Lovers' Group, Essay Competition, Art and Painting Exhibition and Read A Book And Win A Pen event.
