Banking and Finance is an optional subject for B. Com. students of Pune university. The option is available in the First Year of degree course in which Fundamentals of Banking paper is taught. There are three papers for specialization in Banking and Finance- S.Y. B.Com. (Paper I): Indian Banking System, T.Y. B.Com. (Paper II): Financial Markets and Institutions & (Paper III): Law and Practice of Banking.
The Department has been successfully conducting the Diploma in Banking and Finance. It is a 1 year post graduate course of the Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The Department Research Guides are recognised by Savitribai Phule Pune University in the subject of Banking and Finance under Faculty of Commerce. They are actively guiding students for Ph. D. degree at the Research Center of College.
The Department Newsletter-Ecobank is brought out once in a term jointly with the Department of Economics. The members of department write articles, current information, book reviews etc. pertraining to Banking and Finance. The newsletter has been well received and appreciated by students.
The department is active in organizing seminars, workshops, essay competition, guest lecturers on important relevant topics in the subject.
